Curators of this exhibition have picked the title „ Other Capital - New Kharkov Photography, because of certain circumstances that must be explained.

First of all, Kharkov photo school is really exist. And we talk not just about famous FED (Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinskij) factory, that was producing FED photo cameras just recently. If the names of E.Pavlov, A. Suprun and the other VREMJA members (famous Kharkov art photo group from 1970-es )are known only by photo professionals, but Germany located now , Boris Mikhailov is one of the most respected and world recognized photographer of our time. His high status has been proved by Hasselblad award in 2000. Boris Mikhailov frequently comes to Kharkov and holds master classes with young photographers, Mikhailov's students, who now will be shown in ROSFOTO.

Bella Logacheva works with black and white photo, as she sad: "intentionally low quality, to emphasize ordinary of subjects „ Photography from her point of view „ does not imprint the moment of time, but sort of being late and loose the event".

Sergey Kochetov - "Сarte blanche a Boris Mikhailov" participant ( Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris, 1999) - works together with his father, and they often put two signatures on the photo. Probably, it is a sort of the respond on the Master's gesture, who has put pictures by Kharkov photographers during Paris exhibition without the names as the one union composition.

Like the mentioned artists, Alexandr (Sasha) Maslov, Iliya Pavlov and Mariya Norazyan:" consider The Space and The Spirit of their home town as the main inspiration source and, some times, is only the one subject.

City without questions worth such a devoted attitude. As we know, the photo of Kharkov Gosprom building illustrates the article about constructivism in the World Architectural Encyclopaedia. Looks like The Spirit is much more interesting for the new generation of Kharkov photographs then The Space that excites respect and frank interest.

Famous Krarkov's Eduard Limonov writes : „ even if provincial , but the formal Ukrainian capital , Kharkov knew how to play cultural games".

Bella Logacheva, Sergey Kochetov, Alexandr (Sasha) Maslov, Iliya Pavlov and Mariya Norazyan does not loose these skills looks like.
